The process begins with an individualized literacy assessment. The assessment helps me better understand your child’s current skills, identify strengths and needs, and determine whether characteristics commonly associated with dyslexia are present.
The assessment includes all areas of reading, including phonemic awareness, phonological awareness, phonics, alphabetic principles, spelling, oral reading fluency, and comprehension. Based on the results, we create a customized intervention plan with clear goals for dyslexia therapy.
The comprehensive assessment provides valuable insights to share with educators and others supporting the child’s progress.

Following the assessment, we will review the results together. I will explain what the scores mean, discuss patterns of strengths and needs, and help you understand how your child’s literacy profile may be impacting reading, spelling, writing, and classroom performance.
You will have an opportunity to ask questions and leave with a clearer understanding of your child as a learner.

Based on the assessment results, I will develop recommendations specific to your child’s needs. Recommendations may include dyslexia therapy, targeted literacy intervention, home and school strategies, or additional evaluation or support when appropriate.

The five-year-old who can’t learn her letters becomes the six-year-old who can’t match sounds to letters. By age 11 she is the child who would rather hide in the bathroom than read out loud in class. At 18, her excruciatingly slow reading makes it nearly impossible to finish school tasks.
