The five-year-old who can’t learn her letters becomes the six-year-old who can’t match sounds to letters. By age 11 she is the child who would rather hide in the bathroom than read out loud in class. At 18, her excruciatingly slow reading makes it nearly impossible to finish school tasks.
In the first dyslexia session, your child will be assessed in all areas of foundational reading skills, spelling, writing, and comprehension. All services provided are based on student need and adjusted accordingly.
All dyslexia therapy includes visual, auditory, and motor processing with an explicit understanding of the English Language. Each lesson includes: the foundational reading skills (phonemic awareness and phonics), fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, writing, and spelling. A session summary is provided for each session to inform parents of success and next steps
Dyslexia therapy empowers confidence by addressing the specific challenges individuals with dyslexia face, teaching them to view their condition in a positive light, and providing them with the tools and strategies they need to succeed in various aspects of life. This empowerment can have a profound and lasting impact on an individual's self-confidence and overall well-being.
Our goal is student growth! Every few sessions we progress monitoring each student. Your child will be monitored in all areas of foundational reading skills, fluency, comprehension, spelling, writing, and vocabulary. We will always communicate progress with the parents.
We offer a range of flexible scheduling and options, including one-on-one in-person sessions and virtual tutoring, to fit your busy life. Sessions per week can be scheduled to fit your need and finances.
Each session is scheduled to be 30-60 minutes based on student need. Adjustments to the individual sessions are flexible and adjusted as needed.
Dyslexia therapy is often most effective when started early. Identifying and addressing dyslexia in childhood can prevent years of struggle and frustration and enable individuals to build a strong foundation for future learning.
Certified Academic Language Therapist provide explicit, systematic, sequential Multisensory Structured Language instruction which builds a high degree of accuracy, knowledge, and independence for students with written-language disorders, including dyslexia. The therapist utilize Multisensory Structured Language to integrate visual, auditory, and motor processing with explicit understanding of the structure of the English language, enabling students to develop a solid foundation for reading and writing. I have over 20 years of experience in education and am currently in training to become a Certified Language Academic Therapist (CALT) through the University of Alabama.
